Welcome, I’m Bruce.
I founded Upside Stories to help rewrite limiting stories about ageing, for people in midlife and later life, for those in earlier adulthood supporting ageing parents, and for anyone whose story involves bigger questions ahead of schedule.
As a clinical psychologist with more than 16 years of practice, research, and postgraduate teaching experience, focusing on family carers and older person’s mental health and wellbeing, I've seen how those stories shape our mental health, our relationships, and our sense of what's possible.
I'm here to challenge those stories with you through a warm, insightful, down-to-earth, and tailored approach to exploring what this chapter of life is really asking of you, and what it might yet offer.

Because dementia risk begins shaping decades before symptoms appear, it's rarely too early or too late to act. We'll explore modifiable risk factors and help you turn good intentions into meaningful, healthy lifestyle habits.

Our 10-week program when you're supporting family living with dementia or other chronic illness, whether you're a partner, an adult child, or a younger family member who's stepped into the carer role earlier than expected. The toll of family care can bring ambiguous loss, isolation, guilt, and a deep need for connection. We'll support you in practical ways to adapt, reconnect, and explore new meaning.
